The human rights consequences of the war on drugs in the Philippines

The Philippines' war on drugs has led to mass killings and imprisonments, but has not reduced demand for drugs. Mass incarceration policies have turned prisons into recruiting grounds for organized crime, potentially creating alliances between terrorists and criminals. Additionally, the treatment centers are often inadequate, leading to high morbidity rates among methamphetamine users. The US should strongly condemn these actions and deploy sanctions until state-sanctioned extrajudicial killings end.
