News24 obtained pictures showing what the university found during a secret search operation last week. The discovery includes a "punishment room" and "Hool 88," a room containing equipment and documents depicting abusive practices spanning over 100 years.The punishment room is spray-painted with the names of Wilgenhof residents who were members of the "Nagligte," the disciplinary committee. The room contains horrifying pictures of alleged abuse of students, including one depicting a student being forced to drink alcohol mixed with linseed oil and aloe. Another picture shows a student being beaten with broken glass bottles.A two-page "indemnity" form signed by a student in 2023 was also retrieved. The form states that participants in "boot-camp style exercise programs" conducted at the residence may include the voluntary ingestion of noxious substances and the possibility of seeing other participants nude.The discovery has sparked outrage and calls for action to address the abusive practices at Wilgenhof.
