The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is a triennial international survey that assesses student proficiency in mathematics, science, and reading. PISA 2022 was administered to over half a million students from 37 countries and economies in November 2022. The assessment framework includes six proficiency levels for mathematics, with additional levels added to provide greater granularity of reporting for high-performing countries.

The PISA assessment is developed and applied in cooperation between the OECD Secretariat, international contractors, experts, and teams at participating countries and economies. The PGB determines policy priorities and oversees adherence to these priorities during implementation. National Centers managed by National Project Managers implement PISA at the national level, with the OECD Secretariat responsible for producing indicators, analysis, and international reports and publications.
