The study recruited 92 participants (65 female) aged 18-39 from the University of Birmingham or local community. Participants were randomly assigned to four groups: ACTIVE-STRATEGY, ACTIVE-NOSTRATEGY, SHAM-STRATEGY, and SHAM-NOSTRATEGY. The study employed an adaptive spatial n-back paradigm with concurrent tDCS of the right DLPFC over two sessions. The impact of strategy and stimulation on task performance was evaluated by comparing pre- to post-session task performance on the same adaptive spatial n-back and a fixed-load visual n-back (fNabck).
