A novel approach to convert CO2 into valuable nanocarbon materials was introduced in this study, which also reduces CO2 levels and achieves environmental benefits. The process involves a one-step metallothermic reduction using Mg reductant with the addition of ferrocene. Ferrocene plays a crucial role in controlling the nanocarbons' morphology through detailed microscopy analysis, which showed that higher ferrocene content led to more nanoparticles with varying shapes and fewer tubular nanostructures. The nanotubes and nanoparticles exhibited amorphous structures, while sheet-like and cloud-like morphologies had enhanced crystallinity. Electrochemical tests demonstrated high specific capacitance values (200-310 F/g) suitable for energy storage applications, highlighting the significance of ferrocene in shaping nanocarbon morphology and its potential for efficient and sustainable nanocarbon materials development.
